Win a signed print of The Thrill, The Fear, The Hope by artist David Rodríguez Tovar to help invest in marginalised queer creatives careers
The prize is a limited edition print of "The Thrill, The Fear, The Hope" an oil on paper which is not only signed by the artist David Rodríguez Tovar but features a one-of-a-kind QueerAF decal.
The painting went viral during the pandemic at a time when touch was not only taboo, but craved by so many of us. It lit the internet alight for it’s touching detail of same-sex hand holding, that says a thousand things at once.

"When I painted “The Thrill, The Fear, The Hope”, it only had my life as a source of reference. Since then, many other people have seen it and have enriched it with their own stories, it has reminded people of a precise day in their lives. Some of these stories were a happy celebration of love conquering all, some not so much so. I have heard of the moments that didn’t happen because fear was stronger than hope. People who lived in a time or a place when the thrill of unrequited love came with the fear of physical violence, of family and friends rejection, or of being targeted by hate.
"These threats are still very present in our lives, and they are getting stronger. As a community our best protection is to be united and fight for each other - we can only do that if we know where and when the blows are falling. This isn’t easy in the age of misinformation because there is too much noise designed to confuse and distract us, and a clear effort to separate us and weaken our ties to each other."
The prize draw is raising funds for the non-profit QueerAF, who help marginalised LGBTQIA+ people build creative careers.
"I support QueerAF because I trust that they really work for the LGBTQI+ community - they have proven it. They don’t just show pretty bodies or alarming click-baits, their information is straightforward and reliable." - David Rodríguez Tovar
All the money raised here will go toward's QueerAF's LGBT+ History Month crowdfunder. QueerAF is the UK's only LGBTQIA+ publisher that’s both registered nonprofit and press regulated. But they're more than that.
They reinvest everything they bring in to mentor and develop queer creative talent, focused on those from marginalised backgrounds.

Their crowdfunder this year is raising funds to: Keep their newsletter free for everyone, invest in marginalised queer creative mentoring, training and publishing schemes and critical investigative journalism about LGBTQIA+ issues.
