Aim

Support Curious Seed as we celebrate 20 years of dance, creativity, and community!

In 2005, Scottish choreographer Christine Devaney founded Curious Seed in Edinburgh with a vision: to create dance theatre that connects people, challenges perceptions, and celebrates the beauty of movement in everyday life.

Now, as we mark our 20th anniversary, we’re inviting you to be part of our journey forward. We are launching our £20 FOR 20 YEARS FOR 20 DAYS campaign with the goal of raising £3,000 in 20 days to support our future.

“The whole thing’s given my confidence a huge boost, shown me I can do stuff I didn’t think I could…or even wanted to. Now I want to do more!” Participant

Why We’re Fundraising

As we celebrate the last 20 years, and look ahead to the future, we’re campaigning over 20 days to raise vital funds that will help us:

  • Deepen our roots in North-East Edinburgh, through our new home at the redeveloped North Edinburgh Arts Centre
  • Create new performances and projects that reflect everyday life and extraordinary moments
  • Collaborate with local communities, artists, and organisations to co-create meaningful work
  • Share dance in unexpected places, making it accessible to those who might not usually experience it
  • Challenge who the arts are for, and expand what performance can be

“This encounter…made clear how much we need this kind of sensitive experience that reconnects us with our bodies, movement, creative force, and playfulness’. Participant

Why It Matters

We believe deeply that engaging in dance and nurturing creativity cultivates a sense of wellbeing and empowerment. Your support will help us continue to:

  • Make joyful, thought-provoking performances
  • Build creative partnerships that spark new ideas
  • Celebrate belonging, identity, and place
  • Bring the love of dance to schools, community spaces, and public places

“Pupils were enthused and still talk about their experiences today... The children were at the heart of this project.” Teacher

Who We Are

Proudly rooted in Edinburgh, Curious Seed is an award-winning company that creates inspiring performances and creative learning programmes that bring people together - across ages, backgrounds, and art forms.

In just the last decade, Curious Seed has reached over 30,000 people, in Scotland and across the world – sharing moments of joy and humour, thought and challenge, resonance, and celebration. Our work is often presented in spaces and places where people don’t usually experience dance, offering unexpected interventions which intrigue and entertain, and creating inclusive experiences where all are welcome.

Our work is driven by the belief that everyone can dance, and that the arts should be accessible, inclusive, and deeply connected to the communities we serve.

“…leaves you invigorated, challenged, wanting to take up space with all four limbs, appreciating the sovereignty of your own body whilst celebrating with others and enjoying your freedom to move however you feel like” Artmag review

Our Goal

We’re asking just £20 (or whatever amount you are able to give) from supporters who believe in what we do, to raise a total of £3,000 to fund new projects, deepen community engagement, develop our CURIOUS creative learning strand, work with more artists and support the development of our work in North Edinburgh.

Join Us!

Whether you’ve seen our work, danced with us, or simply believe in the power of creativity—we’d love your support.

Donate £20 today, or any amount you can, and help us keep dancing for the future!

Share this campaign with friends, family, and fellow dance lovers.

Thank you from all of us at Curious Seed!
