Cost of Living Boost

Aim
To modernise the operating model of Bow Foodbank, embedding a new model that would develop financial resilience for all our guests.
During the height of the pandemic Bow Foodbank was supporting 1,200 visitors a week with emergency food. Although that number then went down, the current economic crisis has seen the cost of our bags increase and our numbers double since the summer. As we look to the future, we want to remodel our service to allow us to continue to offer high volumes of food distribution while offering choice and dignity to our guests and support them to build their financial resilience. This AVIVA funding will be used build our infrastructure to allow us to:
- Develop a guest-let shopping experience, allowing them to choose the time of their shop, and let them choose the items they receive based on their individual needs and preferences.
- Ensure our delivery model supports guests to budget and plan for the future, building the skills they need to manage their own food co-ops.
- Train our 500 volunteers to offer individual support plans for our guests.
